Christopher Wesselman > Dawn, Bishop, CA — Sue encouraged this dawn shoot on our Bishop trip. It would yield some extraordinary shots, including this one. I was drawn by the water, beside the road, not a trivial subject in the Owens Valley. But it was the roadway disappearing into the shadow of White Mountains, at sunrise, that really caught my eye, sending reminders of the Santa Ynez Valley in the early 60's. I posted this image on OpenFloodgate, and it was downloaded over 100 times. For me, this is quintessential Eastern Sierra. I can't go there enough. Bishop, of course, was the home of Galen Rowell. http://www.mountainlight.com/, his gallery, is worth the drive.
Christopher Wesselman > There's an openness about the Eastern Sierra that will test your authenticity. And you come away from it, somehow more than you were before.
